Accompany me?

Been reading this book lately and it's left me in deep thoughts, whether it is actually possible for two people who've never seen each other to fall in love with one another. Why do these never happen in real life, and why can people actually think of such stories? I never fail to be amazed (and hopelessly praying to have such a love story too).
