Today the family visited this native village in Gelang Patah, Malaysia. About 5 cars drove in, like we used to do years ago. So much fewer cousins but it was still an enjoyable trip.
It was pretty heartwarming, seeing those people leading such carefree lives. The kids were just playing in the dirty water, most of them naked. Fun to them came in the form of us throwing coins into the water for them to catch, and snapping pictures of them. Kinda surreal, actually, to see people living such lives just across the causeway. Our lives seem so much better when we compare the living environments, but why do they look happier? We're living in a society where everyone's too spoilt.
Anyway, the village was pretty huge! Them kids followed us wherever we went and, whenever they saw a river or anything, they just jumped in. We saw shy geese, ducks, chickens and chicks, dogs all. Even the dogs ran away when we walked to them! Really, really cute looking though. The adults there just rear fish, fish, sell fish, spend their earnings on beer. Simple much?
Over there, we ate non stop for like 2 hours. The seafood just kept coming in free flow! Tons of uber fresh gong gongs, crabs, fish, prawns, clams all. My dad looked like he was gonna explode there and then. It was really awesome though. Some of the kids helped to cook the food instead of fight with the others for money, very nice sight. The sad thing about them is that, their skin have gotten so thick, they couldn't feel when ants were crawling all over their feet. :\

Chucky!
